Testing of water in over 6,000 wells for purity is under way in the Kattakada Assembly constituency.

The testing of drinking water is being done as part of the Jalasamriddhi project for water resource conservation and management.

Water testing centres began functioning in all 21 wards under the Kattakada grama panchayat. Jalamithram volunteers, National Service Scheme volunteers who have been trained at P.R. William Higher Secondary Schools and Kulathummal Higher Secondary School, ASHA workers, literacy preraks, anganwadi and Kudumbasree workers led the testing.

Local MLA, I.B. Satheesh, urged the people to support the Jalasamriddhi project in days to come as well.

Grama panchayat president S. Ajitha and Land Use Commissioner A. Nisarudeen were present on the occasion.

While testing was under way in Malayinkeezhu and Maranalloor, it was completed in Vilavoorkkal grama panchayat.
