To give recommendation at meeting on March 23
The Kerala Mediation Centre, on Friday, constituted a subcommittee to study various proposals given by all parties to resolve issues arising out of the closure of the Vilappilsala solid waste-treatment plant.
The subcommittee, which comprises representatives of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Vilappil panchayat, Kerala State Pollution Control Board, and the State government, is headed by George Chackachery, Executive Director of the Suchitwa Mission.
A meeting of the subcommittee will be held at the Secretariat on March 20.
The mediators were given various proposals to solve the garbage problem when the centre took up the issue on Friday.
The subcommittee will submit its recommendation at a meeting to be held at the mediation centre on March 23.
A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon had referred the issues to the mediation centre when a petition filed by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation seeking a directive to deploy Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for implementing the court order on providing police protection for treatment of waste came up for hearing.
The Bench was of the opinion that such sensitive issues could be resolved through an amicable settlement if the method of mediation was adopted.
