Vettukad beautification project in three months

The beautification project of the Vettukad seashore will be completed in three months, Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar has said. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the project near the Madre De Deus church at Vettukad on Tuesday.

The Rs.54.5-lakh project, which includes walkways and lighting, is being implemented by the Tourism Department.

The Minister announced that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the Rs.4.2- crore Shaghumugham Development Project next month. The government would also take up the widening of the Veli-Shanghumugham road if people were not against the development. Depending on the availability of land, an institution offering MBA would be set up at Vettukad. Desalination plants, a sewage treatment plant at Muttathara; engineering college; a fishing net production factory; IGNOU regional centre; and a hospital at Valiyathura are the other projects planned.
