Vettucaud church festival from Friday

The 73{+r}{+d}annual Feast of Christ the King at the Madre de Deus church will begin on November 13 at Vettucaud near here.

Vicar-General of the Latin Archdiocese Eugene H. Pereira, will preside over the holy mass to be held in the church on November 13.

Vicar Nicolas will hoist the festival flag. The church choir wing along with students from schools and colleges will present choir music and chant prayers.

The ten-day festival will be marked by prayer meetings and other rituals.

From November 14 to 20, holy mass will be held at 6.15 a.m., 11 a.m., and 5.30 p.m. The Bishop of Punalur Sylvester Ponnumuthen will preside over the prayers at 5.30 p.m. on November 21.

The festival will conclude on November 22 with pontifical high mass led by Latin Archbishop of Thiruvananthapuram M. Soosai Pakiam.

Special prayer services will be held for the indigent, youth, non-resident Keralites, jawans, teachers and students, and the working class. Vicar Nicolas and parish council secretary Fredi Fernandez said around five lakh pilgrims were expected to participate in the festival. They said the government and the Corporation had made arrangements for the conduct of the festival.

The district administration has declared regional holiday on November 13, they said at a press conference here on Monday.
