The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit has filed a complaint to the police against former Chief Secretary R. Ramachandran Nair, a former Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, for allegedly trespassing and illegally constructing a compound wall basement in its property in Manacaud, near here.

According to the complainant, a group of people illegally entered and attempted to construct a compound wall within the property of 55 cents that they claim to possess. Upon receiving the complaint, the officials of the Fort police arrived on the spot and directed that no further construction took place until the issue was resolved.

In the complaint that has been submitted to the City Police Commissioner by University Registrar T.P. Raveendran, it has been stated that the varsity was in absolute ownership and possession of the two adjacent plots of 29 cents and 26 cents. The particular property has been under dispute since 2012 with the university accusing Mr. Nair of making attempts to occupy nearly 10 cents of the land by the road side.

The university officials said the issue was currently under the purview of the Kerala High Court.

A survey was held by the Land Record Maintenance, Pattom, as per the direction of the Additional Tahsildar, Taluk Office, Thiruvananthapuram, and its final report was awaited.
