As many as 130 roads in Thiruvananthapuram Assembly constituency are being renovated at a cost of Rs.28 crore, Minister for Transport V.S. Sivakumar has said.
Upgrading of 15 roads under the State Level Task Force (SLTF) scheme at a cost of Rs.2.70 crore; 33 roads under the upgrading scheme (Rs.5.14 crore); 14 under the award of the 13 Finance Commission (Rs.2.55 crore); 65 roads under the State government's Corporation road renovation scheme (Rs.9 crore); and three roads (Rs.8.5 crore) under the State budget allocation are progressing, Mr. Sivakumar said in a statement here.
Work on 28 out of 33 roads included in the upgrading scheme has been completed. The Killipalam-Attakulangara-Chala Bypass (Rs.1 crore), Shanghumughom-Vettucaud-Veli (Rs.2 crore), Jagathy-Melarannoor-PRS Hospital Road (Rs.5.5 crore) are the roads being upgraded using the budget allocation. Mr. Sivakumar said the work on three roads would be completed by March this year.
Administrative sanction is expected soon for upgrading 11 more roads in the constituency. He said a sum of Rs.60 lakh was to be sanctioned soon for the flood control measures in the constituency.
