Over 200 paintings are on display at an exhibition that began here on Wednesday to commemorate the 168th birth anniversary of artist Raja Ravi Varma.
The paintings, in watercolour, oil, acrylic, and pencil, are on display at the Museum auditorium. The artists are in the age group of four to 66 years. Besides painting exhibition, a photo exhibition and painting competition for children were also organised by Sanghmithra Fine Arts Society. “There are many artists who remain unrecognised. The motive of the expo is to bring them to the limelight,” says V. Santharam, general secretary of the organisation. “Painting is a form of meditation and a total engagement with life. One feels peace while painting,” Shanti Sivaram, a 66-year-old whose works have been exhibited, says.
Former Governor of Maharashtra K. Sankaranarayanan inaugurated the three-day exhibition. The exhibition will be open till Friday.
