The Association of British Scholars (ABS), an organisation of Indian scientists who have studied or trained in the U.K., is embarking on a project to explore the relationship that existed between the erstwhile princely state of Travancore and the British Empire.
The year-long programme, to be taken up in association with the YMCA and the British Council, will focus on how the ties with the British helped shape the progress and heritage of Travancore.
Oommen V. Oommen, secretary of the ABS Thiruvananthapuram chapter, said the project would feature exhibitions. The project will be announced here on June 5 at the World Environment Day fete of the ABS, in association with YMCA, the British High Commission, the National Geographic Channel and the British Council.
