CPI State secretary Pannian Ravindran has said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would go down in history as the first Chief Minister who closed the Vigilance investigation against himself.
Inaugurating a Raj Bhavan march organised by the CPI against price rise and corruption here on Monday, Mr. Ravindran said corruption had become the hallmark of Congress rule, both at the Centre and in the State. The Chief Minister’s office was under the control of the corrupt. The government could not put even the members of Minister’s personal staff on leash, he alleged.
The CPI State secretary said that instead of trying to provide relief for the people who were reeling under sharp spike in prices of everything, those in power were playing factional politics.
All the measures taken by the government had been dismantled, forcing people to buy essentials at very high prices from the open market, he said.
The Raj Bhavan march, in which hundreds of party workers took part, was organised as a culmination of the campaign jathas taken out by the party from February 13 to 22. Among others, CPI Legislature Party leader C. Divakaran, MLA, and party leaders K.E. Ismail, M.P. Achuthan, MPs, P. Ramachandran Nair and Venjarmood Sasi also addressed the march.
