Two pedestrians killed

Two pedestrians were killed and two others sustained injuries when a car hit them near the Theatre junction at Vizhinjam on Sunday morning. The polices identified the deceased as Abdul Rasheed, 57 and Sadasivan, 70, both hailing from Vizhinjam. The car was on its way to the city from Madurai. The police said the incident occurred around 7.30 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit Mr. Rasheed and Mr. Sadasivan who were walking with two others along the road. Immediately all were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, and doctors declared them dead two hours after being brought to the hospital. The police have registered a case under section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code against Janardhanan, driver of the car.
