Two held in raids on houses of illegal moneylenders

In raids on residences of illegal moneylenders across the district on Saturday, the police arrested two persons and seized more than 100 blank cheques, promissory notes, and documents.

The arrested were identified as Suresh Kumar, 46, and Anil Kumar, 44, who were running a ‘loan consultancy’ at Thycaud. The residences and offices of 14 other persons who were engaged in similar activities too were raided.

They included Vaduvothu Mohanan of Poonthura; Sunil Prasad of Paravalkunnu, Ambalathara; Shafeer of Poojappura; Rajesh of Punchakkary; Shakti of Karimadom Colony; Bhaskaran of Pappanamcode; and Gopalakrishnan, Salim, Mohammed Altaf, Anil Kumar, and Ramachandran Nair, all from Malayinkeezh and Kattakada.

The raids were conducted on the directions of South Zone Additional Director-General of Police A. Hemachandran.
