Two detained in assault case in Thampanoor

The Thampanoor police on Thursday nabbed two persons in connection with the attack on Lathikumar, 58, of Valiyasala late Tuesday. According to sources, one of the accused is Mr. Lathikumar’s foster-son. The police said Lathikumar was hacked seven times, apart from being robbed of about Rs.18,000 and gold ornaments.

Tension over arrest

A tense situation prevailed at Vattiyurkavu on Thursday following the arrest of Sivakumar, a native of Nettayam and DYFI activist. The arrest was in connection with the attack on the house of a BJP activist. DYFI activists staged a protest before the Vattiyurkavu police station.
