The City Police have relaunched its Mission 30 Days drive, a project that it initiated last year with the objective of an intensive crackdown on crime and improving the law and order situation. In a statement here on Wednesday, the City Police Commissioner said the drive was on from Tuesday and would continue till February 28.
The main aim of the second phase of Mission 30 Days would include women’s get-togethers involving women police officers from all city police stations and women representatives of residents’ associations; programmes for the safety of school students, involving School Protection Groups, Student Police Cadets, PTA and Janamaitri representatives and so on; awareness campaigns in schools to curb drug abuse in schools, colonies and other public places; steps to protect children from sexual abuse; steps to identify students who bunked classes and to correct them with the help of teachers and parents; and more focus on women’s safety.
There will be a crackdown on repeat offenders and increase the pace of investigation in unsolved theft cases and arrest of the accused. The Traffic police will take steps to bring down the number of accidents by identifying ‘black spots’ on accident-prone stretches.
