Tribal woman gives birth on KSRTC bus

A tribal woman on Saturday morning gave birth to a baby boy on board a Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus at Vellaramkunnu on her way home.

Kavitha, 19 ,wife of Biju of the Villoonni Kattunayakka tribal settlement at Nellarachal, near Ambalavayal in the district, was returning to her house from Kozhikode along with her husband, mother and a sister on a KSRTC bus bound for Sulthan Bathery. She developed labour pains around 9.30 a.m. when the bus reached Vythiri and was delivered of a baby boy on the bus at Vellaramkunnu here on the way to a hospital, Kavitha’s relatives said.Later she was admitted to a private hospital here. “The condition of mother and child is stable,” said hospital authorities.
