Tremors felt in parts of Kerala

Two tremors were felt in parts of Kerala on Sunday.

The first temblor of 2.7 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred at 3.15 a.m. at Upputhara and Venjoormedu in Idukki district.

The second one, of 3.1 magnitude, was felt at Puthur in Kollam district at 10.29 a.m.

The second tremor was experienced over a wide area covering Kundara, Ezhukone, Shasthankotta, and Kottarakara.

Director of Centre for Earth Science Studies N.P. Kurian said another tremor of 2.9 magnitude was felt at Vandiperiyar at 6.52 p.m. on Saturday. The affected areas also experienced several smaller tremors of magnitude less than two that could not be recorded on our equipment, he said.
