May 26, 2014 10:50 am | Updated 10:50 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Train services between Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram were disrupted for a few hours early Sunday as a high-tension line of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) fell on a railway electric line, damaging the traction distribution system. The system was restored by 7 a.m.

The Kozhikode Janshatabdi Express, scheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram, at 6 a.m.; Venad Express to Shoranur at 5 a.m.; and Kollam - Thiruvananthapuram passenger scheduled to leave at 8.30 a.m. from Kollam were cancelled for the day. The Mangalore - Thiruvananthpuram Express, scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram at 4.45 a.m., was terminated at Kadakkavoor. The Maveli Express to Thiruvananthapuram; Chennai - Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Express; and Mangalore - Thiruvananthapuram Malabar Express; were terminated at Kollam.

The cancellation of trains led to crowding at the Thiruvananthapuram Central station.
