Traffic restrictions will be in place in the city from 2 p.m. on Friday till 8 p.m. on Saturday as part of the Attukal Pongala festival. Tipper lorries, cement mixers, trucks carrying wooden logs, container trucks, and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city during this time.
The KSRTC will begin chain services from 1.30 a.m. on March 11. For efficient transportation, 400 services will be run from within the city and 400 from outside.
The City police have requested the public to make use of these facilities and avoid use of private vehicles, which could lead to traffic blocks.
Devotees coming in private vehicles should not park their vehicles on the main roads around the Attukal temple or the National Highway, MC Road or MG Road, causing obstruction to traffic. Such vehicles will be removed using recovery vehicles and action will be taken against owners.
Parking
Private vehicles can be parked at SCT Engineering College, Pappanamcode; NSS College, Neeramankara; MMRH Neeramankara; Shiva theatre road; from Kalpalayam to Neeramankara Petrol pump; (parking on one side of the road) and the service roads on either side of the Kovalam-Kazhakuttam bypass.
Parking should be avoided on the main roads, except at designated parking areas. Driver or helper has to stay back in the parked vehicle. If not, a contact number has to be displayed on the vehicle.
Restrictions will be in place on entry of vehicles to the city from 2.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, when devotees will be returning home Pongala.

Vehicles from Attingal heading towards Neyyattinkara should take the Kazhakuttam-Karyavattom-

Kesavadasapuram
-Pattom-PMG
-Museum-Vellayambalam-Vazhuthcaud-Poojappura-Karamana-Pravachambalam route. Vehicles coming through MC Road from Venjaramoodu should take the Kesavadasapuram-Pattom-Kuravankonam-Kowdiar-Vellayambalam-Vazhuthacaud-Poojappura-Karamana route. Vehicles from Peroorkada side should take the Oolampara-Pippinmoodu-Sasthamangalam, Edappazhinji-Poojappura-Karamana route. Vehicles from Neyyattinkara to Attingal side should take the Uchakkada-Mukkola-Vizhinjam-Poovar bypass route.
