Traffic restrictions will be in place in the city from 1 p.m. on Friday in connection with the Travancore Ezhava Mahasangamam of the SNDP Yogam to be held at Shangumughom from 4 p.m.

P. Vijayan, City Police Commissioner, said vehicles coming with participants for the event should head towards the beach via the Chakka Bypass and then move towards the parking grounds at Thiruvallam and Kovalam areas via Valiyathura, Ponnara Bridge, and Kallummoodu.

Vehicles that need to go towards the Airport (Domestic) side will go via Chakka Bypass, All Saints, and Shangumughom.

In case of parking space at Thiruvallam and Kovalam being filled up and a traffic block near Shangumughom, vehicles with the event’s participants should drop them at the All Saints Junction and move towards Venpalavattam, via the Kochuveli Railway Station.

Other vehicles towards the Airport (Domestic) side at this time can go via Kallummoodu, Ponnara Bridge, and Valiyathura.

When the Madhavapuram Railway Gate is closed, vehicles from Madhavapuram should move via the Veli Boat Club ground towards Shambuvattam and Titanium parking areas while they should proceed towards parking areas in Venpalavattam after the gate was opened, he said.

After the Mahasangamam, vehicles towards the National Highway side should reach All Saints Junction, via Chakka, to pick up the participants and leave via Madhavapuram, Pallithura along the coastal highway.

Vehicles towards MC Road should go via Venpalavattam, Kumarapuram, and Pattom. Vehicles towards the Neyyattinkara side should move from All Saints to Chakka and proceed via Thiruvallam, the officer said.

Apart from these restrictions, traffic would be regulated on the bypass from Kovalam to Infosys, the Airport Road, and in other nearby regions of the city.
