The Naruvamoodu police on Thursday arrested three youngsters on charges of abusing and attacking a police party that had reached Pallichal on Wednesday to arrest them.

According to the Naruvamoodu police, the arrested — Shyam, 25, Jijo, 23, and Santosh, 20, all residents of Pallichal — were accused of attacking neighbours, Sarojini Amma and her son, around 10 a.m. on Wednesday. A case under the Arms Act was registered against them. A police party from the Naruvamoodu station reached Pallichal around 6.15 p.m. in search of the three

On seeing the police jeep, they allegedly abused the policemen and drove against the jeep on their motorcycle, slamming the two-wheeler into the side-door of the jeep. One of them threw a ‘lungi’ onto the driver’s face while another threw stones at the vehicle, damaging its lights.

They were nabbed soon after. They were remanded in judicial custody, police said.
