Governor R.S. Gavai has issued notification allocating the Public Works portfolio to Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan was holding the portfolio of Public Works after Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph was dropped from the Ministry in April this year.

The Chief Minister recommended to the Governor the allocation of the portfolio to Dr. Isaac following the decision of the CPI(M) to entrust the Department with Dr. Isaac.

Besides Finance and Public Works, Dr. Isaac is in charge of National Savings, Stores Purchase, Commercial Taxes, Agricultural Income Tax, Treasuries, Lotteries, Local Fund Audit, Financial Enterprises, State Insurance, and Stamps and Stamp Duties.
