The Kerala Startup Mission’s (KSUM) financial aid project, Idea Day, will focus on medical and health-care technologies in its December edition to encourage innovations in the sector.

As part of the monthly event, Sreejith N. Kumar, Consultant in Diabetes Medicine, will give a lecture on the topic “Medical Technologies - Scope for Innovations” at the Sree Chithra Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Poojappura, from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. on December 2. Dr. Sreejith is the chairman of the IMA Professional Equipment Protection Scheme and the Indian Diabetes Education Association.

Idea Day was initiated by the KSUM in September to provide funding for innovative projects and products from college campuses.

The programme invites applicants working on novel projects from the Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centres (IEDC) in 196 colleges across the State and technology product start-ups from outside. It also encourages entrepreneurship among the general public. Shortlisted candidates are invited to pitch on Idea Day, and selected projects are given funding in the Idea Grant, Prototype Grant and Scale-up Grant categories.
