The College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, the first engineering college in the State, on Thursday turned 75 adding another milestone in its long journey of imparting quality education.

Though officially the platinum jubilee celebrations will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on July 18, the management on Thursday held a function on the college premises to celebrate the Founding Day of the college. Director, Technical Education, J. Latha, who was the former Principal of the College, along with the present Principal S. Sheela offered a slice of cake to Joseph Lopez, who was a student in the third batch, to celebrate the occasion.

CET Dean Shivakumar and organising secretary of the platinum jubilee celebrations T. L Shaji addressed the students. Poetry writing and painting competitions were also held, a release from the college said.
