Hundreds of children dressed as Lord Krishna paraded through the streets of the city on Wednesday, marking Sree Krishna Jayanthi. This year’s celebration was named ‘Krishnarchana 5115’ by Balagokulam, the group which organised the event in the city.
Shobha Yatras were taken out from Housing Board Junction, Government College for Women, Corporation office, Museum, General Hospital, and Hanuman temple. They converged at Palayam. Here, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation G. Madhavan Nair inaugurated the main procession which moved through the M.G. Road to the Putharikandam Maidan at East Fort. State vice-president of Balagokulam D. Narayana Sharma delivered the Sree Krishna Jayanthi message. Former melsanthi (head priest) of the Sabarimala temple Goshala Vishnu Vasudevan conducted a special puja at the Attukal temple.
The colourful procession showcased the various stages in Krishna’s life through costumed children, floats, panchavaadhyam, and bhajans.
