A temporary bridge will be constructed at Murinjapalam, for the movement of two-wheelers and pedestrians, before the existing bridge is demolished for the construction of a new four-lane bridge.
The work on the four-lane bridge will be taken up under the City Roads Improvement Project (CRIP).
A decision to this effect was taken following the request of K. Muraleedharan, MLA, who visited the spot along with officials of the Kerala Road Fund Board and people's representatives on Thursday.
The existing utility lines and cables will be shifted to the new site.
The officials assured the legislator that the new four-lane bridge will be completed in 200 days of commencement of work, a press release issued here said.
