The master plan for Technocity, a landmark IT township slated to come up in Thiruvananthapuram, is ready.

The picturesque campus, located in 450 acres of land at Pallippuram, is conceived as an integrated IT township, offering IT/ITes infrastructure, residential apartments, shopping malls with multiplexes, hospitals, hotels, educational institutions and other support facilities.

Technocity will have up to 30-million-square-feet built-up space with multiple buildings for its tenant organisations. The estimated investment will be around Rs,5,000 crore.

The campus would focus on areas other than IT, such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, high-end manufacturing and research and development, an official press note said.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) would be setting up their Global Learning Academy with an investment of around Rs.1,500 crore in the 82 acres of land already allotted to them.

This academy, which will be one of the largest in Asia, will be able to train and accommodate 16,000 IT professionals at a time.

Infosys has been allotted 50 acres to set up its second campus. Technopark will be developing another 50 acres for companies that want to set up their IT/ITES units.

SunTec Business Solutions also plans to set up its campus in 10 acres. Besides other IT majors, educational and research institutes like the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management –Kerala (IIITM-K) and Asian school of Business are in the process of setting up their campuses here.

“We have been getting enquiries from across the world seeking information on investment potential and possibilities in the Technocity. We are hopeful that this dream project will become the hub of the IT industry in the coming years. The project will be showcased at the Emerging Kerala event in September and Gitex in October respectively,” said K G Girish Babu, CEO, Technopark.

“We are confident that this project will help provide more job opportunities and put Kerala firmly on the global IT map,” said M.V. Vasudevan, Senior Manager (Business Development), Technopark.
