A lot hinges for the police on the analysis results of the serological evidence collected from the hotel room in Poovar, where an IT professional from Bangalore was raped in the early hours of November 28.
The results, expected on Monday, are what the police hope might lead them to the attackers.
Though the police had rounded up a few suspects, investigating officers admitted they were still in the dark. A lot would depend on the results of the analysis of biological evidence including hair follicles, fingerprints, and seminal fluid, among others, they said.
The complainant, in her statement to the Pozhiyoor police, had stated that there were two persons whom she was unable to identify in the dim light, the incident having taken place around 2.30 a.m. “So, we are waiting till Monday and the test results will hopefully be available by then,” one of the investigating officers said.
The complainant, who had left for Bangalore on November 29, would be contacted as soon as there was a concrete development in the hunt for the accused, he added.
The complainant, a 40-year-old native of West Bengal, was here with her colleagues as part of an official trip. She stated in her complaint that by 2.30 a.m. on November 28, two persons had barged into her room and raped her in the dark.
By the time, she could raise an alarm and gather her colleagues and the hotel staff, the attackers had fled the scene.
