District Collector Biju Prabhakar held talks with quarry owners of Mookkunnimala on Tuesday to find a solution to the issues surrounding quarrying raised by the residents of the area. Mr. Prabhakar said that he placed a few conditions for the owners to fulfil, based on the apprehensions raised by the Mookkunnimala Samrakshana Samithi.

“The issue cannot be resolved in a day or two. On Wednesday, I will hold another round of talks with the residents. After few such talks, we are planning to call both the parties for a joint talk,” he said. Last week, the Collector had ordered for the maintenance of the status quo of not allowing tipper lorries to ply to the quarries in the area.
