The 13 Holy Episcopal Synod of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church will begin here on Monday.

The four-day synod at the Catholicate Centre, Pattom, chaired by Major Archbishop Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, will discuss, among other things, the agenda for preaching the gospel suggested by the Archiepiscopal Assembly of the Church and the addition of new members to its Synodal Commissions.

It would review the apostolic activities of the Church.

As part of the discussions on the agenda for preaching the gospel, the synod would discuss the formation of groups for preaching the gospel, Curia Bishop of the Church Thomas Mar Anthonios said here on Sunday.

The synod will begin with Archbishop Cleemis leading a holy mass at the Catholicate chapel.

A special mass will be held at St. Mary's cathedral on March 9 and 10. The synod will conclude on Thursday.
