November 11, 2011 09:46 am | Updated 09:46 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Drugs Control Department on Thursday, as part of a State-wide raid, seized considerable quantities of fraudulently labelled duplicates of popular and branded cosmetic products from various shops in the district.

The officials have also confiscated similar products of suspect quality, many of them with no product name or label at all.

This is the first time that the Drugs Control authorities in the State are targeting fake cosmetics and toiletries. Samples of the products would be sent for chemical analysis, he said.

Cases have been booked under various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
