The draft list of beneficiaries for the State government’s Livelihood, Inclusion, Financial Empowerment (LIFE) Housing project will be published on Sunday.

As per the survey of the homeless conducted in the district, it was found that there are 68,452 people without houses. Out of this, 53,840 do not own any land too.

In a meeting held at the Collectorate on Saturday, the Navakerala Mission officials said that the list of beneficiaries would be published in the respective local bodies. The list prepared by Kudumbasree volunteers was being published after the approval of the scrutiny and appeals committee of the local body.

The local body governing council would have to ensure that deserving beneficiaries were not left out of the list. Hence, complaints regarding the draft list could be submitted before the committee before August 10. The final list, after taking into consideration the complaints, would be published on August 20. The appeals over the final list would have to be submitted to the District Collector before August 25. Following this, grama sabhas would be held from September 1 to 20 to seek approval of the list.

District Mission chairman V.K. Madhu said the various departments had to work actively to ensure the availability of land. Collector S. Venkatesapathy gave instructions to the Revenue-Local Self Government Department officials to submit a report after collecting information on land availability in the district. The departments concerned have also been asked to collect information on the houses under various other housing projects, which have remained incomplete. In the first phase of the LIFE mission, these houses will be completed.

Ardram Mission officials said six primary health centres would become family health centres by Onam. The Haritha Keralam Mission convenor said the work for making the district plastic-free by September end is progressing.
