The Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) has geared up for the Onam market with discounted prices for coconut oil, sugar, Matta rice, and tea.

A press note said coconut oil with subsidy would be priced at Rs.110 per kilo, sugar at Rs.22 per kilo and Matta rice at Rs.24 a kilo. While Sabari supreme tea would be priced at Rs.131 a kilo, the Supplyco Hotel blend tea would be priced at Rs.150 a kilo.

The boycott of rice mills in Andhra Pradesh would not affect the functioning of Supplyco outlets, the press note claimed. The agency has stockpiled 37,000 tonnes of rice. If sufficient Jaya rice was not available from Andhra mills, Matta rice would be distributed.

Onam Metro Fairs would be organised at Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam from August 10, and at Kottayam, Kollam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode from August 17. The fairs would be on till August 27.

Onam markets would be organised at 19 locations from August 20. At least one Onam market would be organised in each Assembly constituency from August 23 to 27.

A five-day Onam market would be organised at all Supplyco outlets from August 23. In 45 panchayats where there are no Maveli stores, mini Onam fairs would be organised from August 23 in collaboration with local self-government institutions. Branded goods purchased from Supplyco outlets would continue to have rebates of five to thirty per cent. All Maveli stores would remain open from 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from August 23 to 27.
