Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran has suggested that the Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and other legislature party leaders should sit together and view the video clips of the bedlam in the Assembly on budget day and take an appropriate decision that will end the impasse.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Sudheeran said arguments over the happenings in the House that day should be discontinued. He hoped that the Speaker would take appropriate steps to sort out issues.

In reply to a question, he said it would be far easier to evaluate rivals’ claims if the party leaders sat down and viewed the video clips. Technological advances had made it easier to take a decision. Apart from the video clips of the Assembly, there were visuals from various TV channels too, he said. During his time as Speaker, there were several occasions when the House witnessed unruly scenes. But only audio recordings were available at the time. But he used to play the recordings in the presence of the leaders and take an appropriate decision, he said.

On the appropriateness of the filing a criminal case against the ‘vandalism’ in the Assembly, Mr. Sudheeran said the Speaker had the full powers to take any decision related to the Assembly.

The question whether Finance Minister K.M. Mani should resign if named in the charge sheet was not relevant at present, he said.

KPCC president says legislature party leaders should sit together, view visuals of bedlam, and take a decision.
