As many as 24 Class 10 students from Sri Chitra Home in the city are appearing for the SSLC examination that begins on Monday.

They include five boys and 19 girls studying at SMV High School, Fort High School, and Government Tamil High School, Chala.

The students are making good use of the home library and guidance of senior residents as they get on with the last-minute preparations, Sri Chitra Home superintendent Aleyamma Varghese said.

“We have made special arrangements for Class 10 students at the library where they can learn under the guidance of senior students. We are hoping that all the 24 Class 10 students from our home will pass the examination this year with flying colours,” she said.

Ms. Varghese said extra tuition was provided to the students in mathematics, chemistry, physics, Hindi, and English.

The institution, in association with a non-governmental organisation, had organised a counselling session for the students on how to deal with exam fear.

“We are providing all examination stationery and supplies for the students. The students will also get a new geometry box from a donor on Monday as an encouragement,” Ms. Varghese said.

Praveena A.J, a resident of the home and Class 10 student at Fort High School, said she was confident of faring well in all subjects. “We are not really tense. Since we have our seniors to help us, our preparations are going on well,” she said.
