September 20, 2013 03:25 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 01:44 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The presence of mind of a college student helped the police net a 27-year-old man suspected to be responsible for a series of chain-snatchings in the city.

Circle Inspector, Sheen Tharayil, identified the suspect as Rajesh, a resident of Punchakari. He said the man had accosted the student near NSS College for Women, Neeramankara, and attempted to snatch her necklace. She resisted and he fled from the spot. The student noted the registration number of his two-wheeler, which was parked nearby, and informed the control room. The Circle Inspector intercepted the motorbike and its rider near Thampanoor. The man has been detained.
