Christ Nagar School has opted to move its entire student database to an interactive portal which will enable parents to keep track of their wards’ progress all through the year. The school has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Polus Software, a Technopark-based company, to implement its portal ‘Podium’ in the school.
The portal will have all details related to the students, including academic performance, attendance, and their progress reports.
“Podium is a common platform which brings together teachers, students, and parents. It helps teachers to publish class notes, teaching aids, online resources, and homework assignments to a location, specific to a particular class. So, there is not even a need to dictate notes in class. Students and parents can access all class materials and homework assignments at all times of the day. They can also view class schedules, test scores, and progress reports online,” says Ajin Thomas, business development officer of Polus Software.
Attendance tooParents can also have real-time information on their child’s attendance over the day.
“This is our first agreement with a school in the country. We have been active for the past 5 years and our software is currently being used in a few schools in Malaysia and the U.S. We have two models — the entire database is hosted either in our system or the school’s system. Christ Nagar has opted for the second one,” Mr. Thomas says.
Christ Nagar principal Father Bino Pattarkalam signed the MoU with Polus chief executive officer Sabarinath Nair.
