Steps to make Kerala global education hub

The government will upgrade the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) into an Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology and establish an IIT at Palakkad, Governor P. Sathasivam said on Friday.

Mr. Sathasivam said an Academic City would be established to make the State an international education hub.

Designed on the lines of the Dubai Academic City, the project would be taken forward in the Global Education Meet to be held this year. Students Entrepreneurship Scheme would be implemented by establishing linkages with MNCs to improve skills of students.

He said personal and Web-based classes would be arranged for students under the scholar support programme.

Another proposal is the establishment of the Kerala State Accreditation and Assessment Council in line with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for accrediting colleges in Kerala and neighbouring States.
