Twenty additional cleaning staff have been appointed in the General Hospital here as part of the steps being taken by the government to improve the conditions in ward 9 of the hospital, where destitute patients are housed.
Steps have also been taken to install camera monitors in ward 9. Modern wheelchairs and belted trolleys for the ward will soon be handed over to the hospital by HLL Lifecare.
Three home nurses have already been appointed in the ward by the Kerala Social Security Mission and the process is on to appoint six more, a statement issued by the office of the Health Minister said here.
The Director of Health Services is expected to hand over her report on the state of affairs in ward 9 soon to the Health Minister. The Hospital Supreintendent has been asked to make daily visits to the ward.
The hospital authorities have written to the Social Welfare Department seeking its assistance in rehabilitating 34 destitute patients in ward 9l.
The statement said that a GO appointing a monitoring committee for ward 9 will be out soon.
