Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy said here on Wednesday that the government had initiated a slew of projects to improve infrastructural facilities in hospitals and ensure proper treatment and adequate supply of medicines.
She was speaking after inaugurating the construction of a multi-storied complex for the Santhivila Government Hospital at Nemom.
The new block, estimated to cost Rs.1.02 crore, will accommodate casualty, in patient and out patient facilities and other amenities.
Mayor C. Jayan Babu presided over the inaugural function. N. Sakthan, MLA, was the chief guest. Chairmen of standing committees G.R. Anil, Puthenkada Vijayan and Aisha Baker; Corporation Secretary K. Biju, DMO Dr. N. Sreedhar, and councillor V.S. Shaji were present.
