Special trains for Attukal Pongala

Railways will run special trains, introduce additional coaches on passenger trains, provide additional stoppages for express trains at smaller stations, and enhance security to facilitate smooth and safe travel of women coming here to offer Pongala at the Attukal Devi temple on February 16.

Additional ticket, information and announcement counters; medical aid centre; and special escort for trains will be among the arrangements made by the divisional authorities.

Special train

For women who want to reach the capital city the previous day, a special passenger train will be operated from Kollam at 3 p.m. on February 15. The train will reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 5.15 p.m. It will stop at all stations en route, a Railway release here said.

On February 16, the special train from Kollam Junction to Thiruvananthapuram Central will leave Kollam Junction at 4 a.m. to arrive here at 5.55 a.m. with stops at all the railway stations on the stretch.

In the return direction, the special train from Thiruvananthapuram Central will leave from here at 3.30 p.m. to reach Kollam Junction at 5.40 p.m.
