The umpteen newly hatched eggs of goldfish that were only a day old is the main attraction of the Aqua show that commenced at the Sooryakanti exhibition grounds here.

As many as 70 ornamental fish varieties are on display at the 10-day aqua show.

The Black Ghost Knife fish, having a black wavy body pattern and inconspicuous eyes, was making it hard for both adults and children to find out if the fish is moving forward or backward.

Other species

A few other species that enthrals the young and the old visitors at the expo are the orange-, red-, blue- and green-coloured Parrot fish, Kissing Gourami, Red Cap Gold, Catfish with cat-like six pairs of whiskers, the colour-changing Rainbow Sharks, Pearl Scale Gold, and Alligator Gar.

The tiny Tiger Garb fish, a marvel on its own, is also put in other big-fish tanks, as it is adept at eating parasites, says one of the staff, Santosh.

A pair of goldfish, still a sought-after species, could be bought for Rs.10 and above depending on their size.

The fish show is open to the public from 11.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
