Communist Party of India State unit secretary Pannian Ravindran has urged the government to simplify the procedures for renewing ration cards.
He said many formalities for renewal seemed unnecessary and could be avoided. The deadline for renewing ration cards should be extended by at least a month, he said in a statement here on Monday.
