The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Thursday issued a show cause notice to former Minister K.P. Vishwanathan on grounds of indulging in factional activities, making public statements detrimental to the party, and encouraging party activists to stage demonstrations.

The notice was issued by KPCC general secretary M.I. Shanavas on the basis of complaints filed by MLAs T.N. Pratapan and M.P. Madhavan. Mr. Vishwanathan has been asked to show cause why action should not be taken against him within seven days.

The KPCC also issued show cause notices to M.R. Ramadas and C.I. Sebastian, Thrissur DCC general secretaries, for having staged demonstrations against the leadership and burning local leaders in effigy.
