The Shanghumughom beach beautification project, estimated to cost Rs.4.2 crore, will be launched here on Wednesday.
The project, according to a press release issued by local legislator and Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, promises to change the very face of Shangumugham with pavilions, benches, food counters, stages for cultural programmes, a skating ring, a new park, lighting systems, renovation of the ‘kalmandapam’ and ‘arattukulam’, rehabilitation of roadside hawkers and foodstalls as well.
Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar will inaugurate the project on the beach in the presence of Mr. Sivakumar, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor, Mayor K. Chandrika and others at 6 p.m., according to a press statement released here on Tuesday.
