On university campuses across the State, students under the banner of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) showed their protest against child marriages by wearing a gag.

In the capital, a rally of mostly girl students was taken out from the University College campus to the Secretariat. The SFI State committee member Atheena Sathish led the march.

The protests were held in light of the stand taken by Muslim organisations in the State on the minimum age of marriage of girls.

Similar marches and public meetings were held on various campuses across the State, said a press note issued here on Monday.
