Two cases pertaining to sexual abuse of minors were reported under the Thiruvananthapuram rural police limits on Sunday. In both cases, the accused were neighbours of the victims.

A 39-year-old man was arrested by the Varkala police for alleged sexual abuse of a four-year-old girl. “The incident is believed to have occurred a week ago. Even the parents did not know about it. It came to light after Childline was alerted by another person,” an official said.

In a separate incident, the Naruvamoodu police arrested two people, aged 47 and 45, on charge of sexually exploiting a 14-year-old boy. The police said the boy was abused at the house of one of the accused for nearly three years. They allegedly lured him by showing pornographic content. Recently the boy revealed the ordeal to his school authorities, who alerted the police.

In both cases, the accused were booked under POCSO Act, 2012.
