Several canteens put on notice

As many as eight health squads of the Corporation conducted inspections at various parts of the city on Saturday.

Canteens attached to several government offices were served notice by the city Corporation’s health squad on Saturday as part of the crackdown on eateries that serve unsafe food and function in unhygienic conditions. These include canteens inside the Kerala State Electricity Board office on Power House Road; Vidyuthi Bhavan; Director of Medical Education office; Pattom Traffic Police Station; and Medical College House Surgeons’ canteen.

As many as eight health squads of the Corporation conducted inspections at various parts of the city on Saturday.

Of the seven hotels raided in Sasthamangalam, Pizza Corner- Sasthamangalam; De Parison Hotel- Sasthamangalam; and Hotel Manasi, Edapazhanji, were issued notice for poor sanitation conditions. Out of three hotels inspected in Sreekanteshwaram circle, notice was issued to Sahari Bar Hotel.

In Chenthitta circle, a tea shop owned by one Mr. Kumar was issued notice. Sivashakthi Hotel at Pottakuzhy and Kairali Hotel at Pottakuzhy were issued notice in the Medical College circle.

Stale fish and rice were seized from Hotel Parasuram, Hotel Gowrishankar and Kerala Restaurant in Thiruvallam zone. P.R. Hotel, Pappanamcode in Nemom zone and two hotels at Kudappanakunnu were also issued notice for poor hygiene conditions.

Closure notice to three

Three hotels in the city were ordered to be closed following a raid conducted by the officials of the Food Safety Commissioner’s office on Saturday. Buhari Hotel, Attakulangara; Kumar Café, Killipalam; and Kalpaka Sea Food Restaurant, Technopark, were ordered to close down for poor hygiene and food safety standards.
