Separate department for senior citizens sought

The Senior Citizens’ Friends Welfare Association has demanded formation of a separate government department to coordinate various programmes for their welfare.

The association said they were hopeful of an announcement in this regard by the new Left Democratic Front government in their first policy address.

However, the policy address did not have any mention of the demand.

The association welcomed policy announcements regarding creation of more jobs, corruption-free administration, providing sanitation, upgrading district hospitals and Kuttanad package, a press release issued here said.
