Security control room at Trivandrum Central station

Railways have decided to mobilise 332 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from other divisions and open a round-the-clock special security control room at Thiruvananthapuram Central station for two days from February 15 to ensure security of the women arriving by trains for the Attukal Pongala.

For any assistance on the trains and on the railway premises, passengers can contact the control room on the RPF Rail Alert no. 99950 40000.

Railways have mobilised 332 RPF cadres with 100 women constables and three women officers from other railway divisions for the Pongala. They will be directly controlled by a Commissioner of RPF. He will be assisted by three Assistant Commissioners and a team of 13 circle inspectors and 40 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors of the RPF.

An additional bomb detection squad and dog squad will be pressed into service. Additional lighting will be arranged and surveillance cameras installed.

All the trains will have RPF escorts in uniform and in plainclothes.
