SBI team wins pookkalam contest

In a contest that saw harmony of colours and creativity, the State of Bank of India’s Local Head Office team won the first prize in the sixth edition of The Hindu Metroplus ‘Pookkalam’ contest, which was held at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School Hall, Pattom, on Saturday.

The team, led by Sadma and comprising Akhilesh, Padmakumar, Prathiba and Prajish A., was adjudged first by judges Ajay Kumar and Jinan Balaramapuram from among 50 participants.

‘Team Radha’, led by Radha M., comprising Satheesh Kumar, Sreela Chandran, Latha and Surendran, won the second prize while ‘Team Manjari’, led by Kavya M.V. and with Chinju B.U., Aparna Sasikumar, Ajitha Singh and Anitha Singh, finished third.

The first three winners received cash prizes of Rs.20,000, Rs.12,500 and Rs.7,500 respectively while 10 teams were given consolation prizes of Rs.1,500 each. All teams were given Rs.750 as reimbursement for the cost of flowers.

Apart from these, the first prize winner received a holiday package, ‘Onakodi’ from Parle and a gift hamper from Prestige. The second team left with an ‘Onakodi’ from Parle and gift hamper from Prestige while the third team collected a gift hamper from Prestige.

There were prizes for the best traditionally dressed team, which was won by the CRPF Wives Welfare Association captained by Sapna Ajay Bharathan while the individual prizes in the same category (Male and Female) went to Rajit Karunakaran Nair and Aswathy Thilak. Vishnu and Lakshmi won the Parle Biscuit Crunch Contest for Children.

The contest, which was inaugurated by Rani George, Director, Kerala Tourism, was followed by a ‘Thiruvathirakkali’ performance by a team from All Saints College. Singer G. Venugopal gave away the prizes in the event, which had Parle Products as the Presenting Sponsor.

The event was powered by Lewis Berger Easy Clean. The Banking Partner was Bank of Baroda while the associate sponsor was Amway. Gift sponsors included TTK Prestige, Amul and Focus shirts while Big FM 92.7 was the radio partner.

Parle Products regional head Ranjith, Bank of Baroda regional head Radhakrishnan, and N. Parthasarathy, Assistant Vice President, The Hindu (Western Region), were present.

K.K. Joshy, Regional General Manager (Advertisements), The Hindu (Kerala) welcomed the participants while T.S. Lakshmi Narasimhan, RGM, The Hindu (Thiruvananthapuram) proposed a vote of thanks.
