The cost of satellite launches is likely to come down in view of the participation of a large number of public and private service providers round the world, Y.S. Rajan, co-author of the books penned by former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has said.
He was delivering the Kalam memorial lecture on the occasion of the 86th birth anniversary of Kalam here recently.
New business models are also likely to emerge in view of the free access to global data such as Google Earth where data relating to the environment, weather, land and oceans are available round the clock. Local start-ups can easily use this data creatively for customisation and localisation.
One cannot rule out the possibility of space becoming a battle field in the years to come, he added.
